There are many different types of knives available, and as with many other tools, if you don't have the right one, it's likely to cause problems. Here are a few tips for choosing the right knife for your outdoor sport.

Hunting

Most hunting knives are made for skinning animals. If you need your knife to be good for skinning, the most important thing you need to be aware of is the blade shape.

You would like a rounded or drop point so that when you're; ripping the skin, the point of your knife won't dig into the beef. Also, you will potentially wish to have a fixed blade knife, as folding blades have to several fissures to catch blood and mess in.

Camping

Selecting a knife for camping can be tricky, because you want a flexible knife. Because of this, you may regularly find a Swiss army knife or multi tool may fill your requirements best. Also, you might like to add a saw, hatchet, or machete to your pack before you leave, for tougher cutting jobs.

Fishing

You need to potentially get a fillet knife for fishing. A fillet knife is well designed for cleaning fish, and it could also cut fishing line well, which is the other main task for a fishing knife. If you're counting on fishing in salt water, be certain that your knife is meant to resist the corrosion of saltwater.

Trapping

Trappers will most likely need an a skinning knife, very similar to a hunting knife. Harder jobs are usually done with an axe, so a second knife isn't usually required. Sailing A boaters main need for a knife is cutting line.

You will need a pointed knife, that is simply accessible and quickly utilized, in case you want to cut a line in a rush. Make sure that the knife will square up to wet conditions, too.
